The Mimic is 5”5 with brown eyes, a smile like the sunrise. She changes her haircut, style and colour a lot and likes to dress dramatically. She wishes everyday was a Prom dress day.

The Mimic comes from a South East Asian background but has grown up under western influence for just over two thirds of her life. She has been to 11 different schools during her schooling years but hasn’t necessarily loved all of them. During the tween times of not having very many friends straight away at a new school, The Mimic turned to the imaginary worlds within television, novels and music for companionship, inspiration, knowledge of the world and ultimately, stability.

The Mimic was an avid reader of the Baby Sitters Club, Fear Street and Sweet Valley series. She wanted to wear Claudia's outfits, fancied herself as an environmentalist like Dawn and coveted Stacey's New York sophistication. She desperately wished for her life to take a supernatural turn somewhere along the way and hoped she had a long lost twin somewhere out there in the ether. She was also a keen follower of (mostly American) sitcoms such as Saved By the Bell, Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Boy Meets World. These were the mediums against which The Mimic held up her own life for comparison and to gauge normalcy.

When she was younger, The Mimic was also known for singing and dancing along to, as well as staging performances with pop music. She loved it then and still loves it now, as her videos will show you. As tragic and hilarious as the videos may be, they still fill her with contentedness and make her feel at home. The Mimic loves the freedom of re-inventing herself at whim and writing her own versions of popular narratives.
